Prologue I was there when Finch created the Machine. I was there when Harold Finch found John Reese and they started their work. I was there when Reese saved every number the machine gave them. I was there when Reese adopted Bear. I was there when Reese helped Shaw. I was there when Samaritan started taking over. I was there when Finch, Reese, Shaw and Root were trying to save the machine even though it was dying because of Samaritan. I was there when Reese gave up his life for Finch. I was there when Finch sat at that restuarant discouraged because his work was gone. Or so he thought.
Reese didn't really die for Finch. Sure, he was mortally wounded but he didn't die. While the agents were closing in on him, he was shooting back to the best of his ability, but when he finally fell out of view to Finch, Finch left out of grief. Finch never saw me approach and shoot down the agents still shooting at Reese. Once the agents were down, I ran over to Reese and called to my partner to get a stretcher. One was brought and we lifted Reese onto it. "Take the keys, Milner, I'll finish up here." I said. Milner nodded and left with Reese. I grabbed the computer that held the Machine, for it had finished what it was set up to do. Everything of Samaritan was gone. It would take them years to rebuilt the super computer. I put the computer in my backpack and slung it on my back. Pistol cocked, I made my way down the stairs and onto my motorcycle. I drove to the unknown blocked off subway station where their HQ was. But, the old subway station was not there. The China Town building that it was under is gone. I take off my helmet and look around. I am in the right spot but where is the building? I get off my motorcycle and walk over to a guy. "excuse me, but what happened to the building that was over there?" I asked. He shook his shoulders as if he didn't know. I walked back and got on my motorcycle. It was then I thought I must be in the wrong spot. I drive around looking until I notice a car following me. I try to shake off my tail but they are persistent. "Probably Samaritan agents." I say to myself. I drive to a tall parking garage and drive up until I know I have a few seconds before they catch up. I quickly pull off my helmet, grab the briefcase and get in a conveniently unlocked car. Pulling down part of the seat, I slither into the trunk and close the seat. I hear the car turn into the next parking spot. Thump! Thump! Their boots hit the cement floor and they spread out to look for me.
For thirty minutes, they search and I am running out of air. I hear voices saying "check this car" and "this one is clear!" They head back to the car from whence they came and leave. I wait for 5 minutes to be sure and I make a dreadful mistake i realize when the car turns on and starts moving. I am running out of oxygen so I kick out the left tail light to let in oxygen and to see where the driver is driving. The car drives and it drives until it finally stops. I look out the hole i kicked and see the sun is closing it's descent. Voices can be heard outside the car as the driver gets out and goes inside a building. Popping the seat back open, I slither into the body of the car. I peek out the window to make sure no one is out there and open the door. I jump out, with the briefcase, and run into the field, throwing my self into the tall grasses. The grass encases me and I am sure no one can see me. I know it is a risk, but I pull out my smartphone and turn it on. I open the Google Maps app and see I am miles from where I need to be. Startled by the notification on my phone that says, "finding location", I take a rock and break my phone. I start crawling through the grasses and continue until they end.
At the end of the grasses, I see a gas station that appears to be in the middle of nowhere. I grab the backpack and sling it on my back, nice and secure. Walking into the gas station, I ask the attendent, "Do you know where I can pick up a car? My friend just dumped me here, not caring and I really need to get back to the city." He looks up at me and replies, "Look, there is a car dealership about one mile to the South. I am sure you can pick up a car there." He doesn't say anything else and goes back to his book. I walk and grab a few bottles of water and some energy bars. I buy them and start trekking down the road to the car dealership. Little did I know, it wasn't an actual car dealership.
After walking for about twenty minutes, i came across the car dealership. It was for Toyota cars. I walked into the parking lot and into the building. "Hello? I have come to look at cars!" I said. The inside didn't really lool like a car dealership. It looked more like an office. Not your average office but an office that used to hold a super computer by the name of Samaritan. I hear a mechanical whirring behind me as i turn around. A metal gate is closing over the door. I run over and try to get out, but i have no such luck. "Hello, there." I hear a voice say from behind me. I get up and slowly turn around. Two Samaritan agents are standing there. With guns.
I put my hands up in the air. "I just want a car." I say trying to sound helpless. They look at each other and the one with dark brown hair says,"How did you get here and what is in the backpack?" I tell them the same story i told the gas station attendant. He grunts when i finish and says i can go. But a voice from the shadows of the room says "Don't you see, boys? It is a trick." The man steps away from the shadow and i see it is John Greer. He commands them to grab and restrain me, which they do. He starts blabbing about how his super computer was supposed to last not Finch's. He turns around as he is talking and i take down the two guys restraining me. Once they are unconscious, i pull out my gun. "Let me go, Greer and i won't shoot." I demand. Hr does his creepy laugh and replies: "oh, you can go. I can recognize you now for my snipers." The metal gate goes up and i run outside. I break into one of the cars and hot -wire it. U drive away towards the city, knowing that Greer probably has a tracker on the car. I dump the car right outside the city and start walking towards Chinatown. I am glad that Greer didn't check the backpack or else he might've known it was the Machine. Thinking about that and how to locate Finch, I reach Chinatown in no time at all. I walk into the building and punch the code into the vending machine. It opens and i walk in, closing the door behind me. I see Milner, washing her hands and i set down the backpack before walking over to her. "Hey!" She greets me, "what took you so long?" "it is a long story." I reply. "Well, he is bullet free and I think he will live. It is a good thing I was a doctor before I met you." She tells me. "We need to locate Finch and Shaw." I tell her. She agrees and we start thinking up a plan of action. "Should we unpack it?" She asks. "I am not sure. I would rather wait for Finch." I reply, "We should probably wait until he wakes up to ask his advice." About a day later, Reese starts to stir. He wakes up and opens his eyes. I watch as he grimaces when he tries to move. "I wouldn't move if I were in your situation." I say, getting up and walking over. "Who are you two?" He asks, as Milner walks over. "I am Jackie Myers and this is my partner, Nicole Milner. I call her Milner and she calls me Jack." I reply. He does a grunt in reply as he tries to sit up. "Please don't! Your stitches might come out." Milner says and he stops and lies back down. "Please tell me I didn't get fixed up at the hospital." He says. "Don't worry. You didn't. Good ol' Milner fixed you up." I reply. He nods probably trying to understand the whole thing. I am about to tell him what all happened when i hear a door opening behind us. Milner and I whirl around to face the person.
"Who are you?" The girl asked. I took my hand, that immediately fell to my holster, off and held it out to her. "I am Jackie Myers and this is my partner, Nicole Milner. You are Sameen Shaw and this must be Bear." I say as I crouch down to pet the dog. She looks around us and sees Reese. "Reese. You're alive? Finch told me he saw you get killed." She says. "I am still trying to believe myself. These two told me they saved my life." He replies to her. She turns to me. "Why is Bear so comfortable with you?" She asks. (FYI, Bear is trained to answer to German commands) "Vielleicht ist es mein Deutscher." I reply. Shaw looks surprised that I know German and she just kinda stares. She slowly comes back to life and asks Reese, "Where is the Machine?" "I have it." I reply, as I grab the backpack. She grabs the backpack, pulls out the laptop and walks to the subway car. I see her open the computer and start to hook everything back up. "So, maybe we don't need to find Finch." Milner says;.
2 Weeks later.
"The Machine is still not working like it should." Shaw says, frustrated, as she walks out of the subway car. "Well, maybe we do need Finch." Reese says, looking up from his book. I sit there, pondering what we should do. "What if it is trying to get a hold of Finch?" I say. "It could be, but Finch wouldn't ignore it." Shaw replies. I hear Nicole Milner come back inside. "I brought Chinese!" She says as she holds up a bag. "Nicole, you are the only one who can eat Chinese for a week straight." Shaw says. "Oh come on guys. It is not like we have a vehicle to drive to get some good food." She says. "I think we should start getting ready for numbers." Reese says. Shaw and Milner walk over to where we have a "living room" and start pulling out the take-out boxes from the bag. We start discussing what we should do. After we are done eating, I stand up and say, "Okay. It is settled. Tomorrow's plan. Shaw is going to try to get the Machine working. Milner, you are going to grocery shop for food other than Chinese. Reese, you are going to see if Finch's apartments are safe. Me, I'll get the vehicle." They nod in agreement. Reese and I walk over to Finch's safe. "Looks like we need a stethescope." Reese says. I walk over and grabs Nicole's and hand it to him. About 15 minutes later, we have it opened and he gives me the money for the car. "Did you write down the code?" I ask Reese. "No." He replies. "Let me guess you have it here." I point to me head and he affirms. The next day, we all set out for our 'missions'. I find a car dealership and this time it is actually a dealership.
At the car dealership, I buy a Ford Explorer. The sales associate is pretty surprised when I have all the money for it in cash. Once the paper work is signed, I hit the road in the new car. I drive to a convenience store and buy some throw-away phones. I park the car about a half-mile away from the hideout. Walking back to the hideout, I meet up with Reese. "Were they discovered?" I asked him. "No. All four apartments are good." He replies as he hands me the key to one. "Thanks. I got the car" I tell him, as I hand him an extra set of car keys. When we reached the Chinatown building, we stop short when we see the vending machine door open. "Keep walking!" Reese quietly hisses. I follow his lead and continue walking. When we are a safe distance away, I ask him, "Do you think they found us?" 'i'm not sure." He replies. A car slowly drives past us, then it stops while unrolling it's window. The guy kinda stares at Reese for a second. He gets out of his car. "So, the tall guy in a suit lived?" He says to Reese. "Hey, Fusco." Reese replies. "You know, Shaw told me you died when I met her at a cafe to give her bear." He says. "Obviously Shaw was wrong." Reese replies. I think Fusco is pretty happy to see Reese, as he gives him a hug. A quick hug as he tells him, "Glad you are back."
Fusco turned to me and says to Reese, "Who is your friend?" I hold out my hand and say, "Jackie Myers. Nice to meet you, Detective Fusco." He is a little creeped out as he shakes my hand and returns the nice to meet you. He tells us he has to go back to work and gets in his car. As he leaves, Reese asks me: "How do you know everyone?" I do a side smile as I say, "It's my job." We walk back to the subway hideout and see the door is closed. Reese and I ready our handguns and we go in. Everything is the same as always. Dong! I am hit with something and i black out. When i come to, I am tied in a chair. I look over to my right and i see Nicole. We are still in the subway hideout. I don't see Reese or Shaw anywhere. "Psst. Nicole. Where are we?" I ask her. She starts to say something but is cut off. A voice from the shadows says "Who are you two?" Me being my strange self, reply to him saying, "Jackie Myers. Nice to meet you. May i ask who you are and where are Reese and Shaw?" So you do know of Team Machine? Haha! And here i thought you were just a girl who knew my name and happened to walk in my place of operations. Well, girlie, you are going to help me find your friends." Greer said as he came out from the shadows(this guy has a strange obsession with shadows.) "Never!" I replied. He turned to Nicole. "How about you, young lady?" Nicole looked over at me with pleading eyes. I felt like i went back on my promise to keep her safe. If she dies, how would i ever tell her husband? She worked out of her throat a "no" as she turned to Greer. He started doing his creepy laugh as i secretly started to undo the bonds i was tied in. I was free quite quickly. I shouted out, "Aanval!" Hoping that they didn't catch Bear, i jumped out of my bonds. I got ready for hand-to-hand combat with Greer, but i didn't have to because Bear came running and attacked him. Once Greer was on the ground, i ordered Bear to stop as i got Greer 's gun off of him. I turned around to face Greer's guards who had heard his plea for help. "Aanval!" I told Bear and we both started fighting them off.
Greer had brought only 6 of his goons and Bear and i fought them off like pros. After they were down on the ground, unconscious, with multiple wounds, i turned back around to face Greer. "Greer." I said in a menacing voice. "I see fighting my men off was no trouble for you. Must be military, correct?" He asks. "None of your world-dominating business." I reply. "You know, i am surprised you haven't beaten me up or, better yet, killed me?" He asks. "Well, guess what old man, i want you to die of grief that you never got to control the world." I reply. He does his laugh (I hate that laugh!) And says, "I bet you are too scared to kill me." He taunts. "Huh! Scared to kill you? Right. No, i wouldn't kill you because that is what Finch doesn't want his team doing." I reply. "Oh, of course! I forgot your "team" shoots people's kneecaps instead." He says. He lunges for me and we start a hand to hand combat fight. I push him down on the floor and the old man gets back up and gets ready to lunge again. This time he was aimimg to kill Nicole. Bam! "Ahhhh!" He groans in pain as he falls to the ground. I put my pistol back in my holster and then go over to Nicole to untie her. "Y-y-you shot him!" She starts blubbering. "In the kneecap." I remark. "C'mon, Nicole!" I say as I pull her along. After about 30 seconds of me forcing her to come along, she finally starts following voluntarily. I pull my gun out of my holster to be ready for any attackers as we attempt to leave. After following what seemed like a maze, we exit into the night. Nicole and I run to the fence and I scale it like a pro. Nicole takes her time. A lot of time. After 10 minutes, I had to speed her up. "Nicole! Hurry up! You don't want to be captured again!" I hissed at her. She hurries up and comes down. We start running again. After about a mile, I pull out my phone. I call Reese. He doesn't answer, so I leave a message, telling him who it is and our coordinates. In about twenty minutes, the Ford Explorer pulls up and Reese unrolls the window, telling us to get in. Nicole gets in the car, followed by me and before we can buckle, Reese is already driving away. He drives to the apartment complex Finch literally owns. Nicole goes up to her apartment but before I can go inside and find my apartment, Reese takes me aside and says, "Look, Jackie, I am sorry I couldn't stop Greer from getting to you. There were Samaritan agents everywhere. I-" I stop him there. "Reese. It is not your fault. I don't blame you. You had to fight them off. Besides you promised Finch you would protect the machine." I say.
I go inside the apartment building. Walking up the stairs i locate apartment B2. Unlocking and opening my door, i step into a fully furnished apartment. Shaw group texts all of us telling us to meet in the conference room. On floor B, there are five apartments and in the middle of the square is a meeting room. I walk through my apartment and unlock the door to get inside. And, when we all enter at the same time, we are shocked at what we see.
We were shocked for it was Finch, sitting in there. His head was facing down with his handa holding it up. We all finished walking in. Shaw cleared her throat to get his attention. His head flew up and looked around. "Mister Reese? You are alive?" He said. "Hey, Finch." Reese replied as he sat down on one of the chairs in the conference room. "Hi, Finch." Shaw said as she sat down. He looked questioningly over at me and Nicole. I stepped forward. "Hello, Harold Finch. I am Jackie Myers." I said. He shook my hand and then i introduced Nicole. "Well. The team is back together." Finch said, as Nicole, he and i sat down. "So, is the Machine still intact?" FInch asks. "Yeah, Reese and I saved it from Samaritan agents that found the subway hideout." Shaw answers. He nods. "So, you must have it?" He asks Shaw. "Yes. I will go grab it." She says as she leaves the room to grab the backpack containing the Machine. He turns to me. "How did you find out about us?" He asks. "Oh, it was pretty simple. I noticed the who the police called "the tall guy in a suit" following different people at different times. So, I started observing Reese all the time. Once, I even took a bullet for him, even though he had no idea except for now. Milner was the doctor who removed the bullet and I recruited her to help me watch you guys. And well, when you were on top of the building watching Reese die, I was heading up the stairs to save his life." I replied with the story. While I was telling him, Shaw came in with the Machine. "Well, Miss Myers, thank you for saving mr. Reese's life." He started to hook up the Machine to these weird buzzing towers in the room. Reese, Nicole and I just observed as Shaw and Finch set it up.
A few hours later, the Machine was set up. "Now we will know if it is working correctly when it identifies different people. Mr. Reese, Miss Milner and Miss Myers, please go for a walk. Make sure you walk by cameras." We all get up and go outside. We seperate and all take different routes. I start walking until i notice a camera. I look at it and the phone booth near me rings. "Nine. One. Seven. One. Eight. Two. Four. Three. Eight." I hear over the phone in different voices. I walk back to the apartments. "It recognized you, Miss Myers." Finch says. "And it gave us a number." I reply. He looks expectantly as i repeat the number. "Oh, no. The number is Miss Milner." Finch says.
When Reese and Milner get back, they both notice the Machine covered with a blanket. "Attention!" I call to everyone in the room. "The Machine is broken and will not work." While saying this, I am doing Miltary sign language with Reese telling him what happened. "Everybody can go home and back to their normal lives." I finish. Nicole asks me, "so we are done?" I nod yes. "Great! Joseph and I will be arriving home at the same time." She tells me. She grabs her stuff and leaves. "Mister Reese and Miss Myers, you know what to do. " Finch says. We nod and head out thedoor trailing Nicole. We follow her all the way to her house. We watch as she goes in. I notice a car in the driveway. "Reese, do you think that is her husband's car?" I ask him. "I think so. Samaritan agents have the signature black SUVs." He replies. I pull out the binoculars and look through them. "Yup, it is her husband's because i doubt she would be a hugging a Samaritan agent." I say. He laughs. "If the Machine was right about her, I don't think the crime will be committed today." Reese says. I agree and we leave. The next day, Reese and I are back to watching her, early in the morning. We are watching the house from the car. Knock. Knock. Reese unlocks the door to let Fusco in. "Good grief, Fusco. You could've blown our cover." I greet him. "Hello to you too." He says to me. "So who are we watching here?" He asks, directing the question to John. "Doctor Nicole Milner." He replies. "Oh, I heard of her before. She was the one who got bought out by another doctor right?" He asks. I turn in my seat. "She got bought out by another doctor?" I ask him. "Yeah, and man, was she angry at him." He replies. "Reese, i think we have it." I say. Fusco looks questioningly at us. "Does he know about....it?" I ask Reese. "No." Reese replies. I hear Finch calling, so i press my ear. (You may be wondering why she does that if you haven't watched P.O.I. Well it is an earpiece that is a microphone and speaker and it sits right in the ear. It is invisible and the person just presses their ear to answer the call. I am not really sure if it is just a device the producers made for the show or if they are real) "What is up, Finch?" I ask. "How is the trailing going on Nicole?" He asks. "Fine. We are stilling sitting at the house." I reply. "Let us know when you move." He concludes and i hang up by pressing on my ear. About ten minutes later, Nicole comes out of her house. "So that's her?" Fusco asks while eating the donut i handed him. "That is her." I reply. Reese starts the car and begins to follow her car that just left her driveway. She turns into her old doctor's office. "Reese, let me off here." I say. He nods and stops the car. I get out and walk over to the office. I see Nicole walk inside and i walk in after her. "Nicole!" I say. She turns around surprised. "Jackie! What are you doing here?" She asks. "I came to pick up my medical records. How about you?" I reply. "Oh, just here to see Doctor Foster." She replies. She walks up to the desk and i follow. While she is not looking, i pair our phones. (In P.O.I., Reese pairs his phone to the phone of the number so he can hear every call and see every text.)
I walk over to one of the seats and start looking over Nicole's text messages. There was one that told me she wouldn't do her crime now. For it read: 'I am going to wait until the cover of night and catch him in the parking lot. It is a bad part of town so the police will call it a hit and run.' I leave the building and walk back to the car. I get in. "Welcome back." Fusco says. "She is going to do it tonight." I tell them, as i hand Reese my phone with the text message on the screen. He reads it and hands it to Fusco. "Wow. This girl has her operation planned." He says. "Yeah, she does." I reply. As i look out the window after finishing my sentence, i see the pay phone on the sidewalk ring. I tell them that i will be back in a second and i get out and walk to the phone. I pick it up and hear different numbers being said until nine have been spoken. I go back to the car. I look at Fusco. "Is this part of your operation that i can't hear?" He asks. "Look, Fusco, it is nothing against you." I say. He gets out of the car saying, "Well, i better get back to the station before they wondered where i disappeared to." I watch him walk away in the sideview mirror. "I think that might be Nicole's husband's number." I tell Reese. He drives back to the apartment building.
We both go through my apartment and into the conference room. "Finch. We have another number." I say. He asks for it and i repeat what i had heard. He confirms that the number is Nicole's husband. "Probably going to be a husband-wife joint effort." Reese says. Finch, Shaw and i all agree with him.We sit in the car, as the night grows darker. At about seven, the streetlights turn on and it is dark. A car pulls into the parking lot. "Reese, Nicole just pulled in." He nods and we get out quietly. We walk into a scene laid out like this: A dark parking lot with just a little bit of light from a streetlight. To the right, Nicole's husband is standing arm out, gun in hand. His wife in the same pose, two feet behind him and two feet to the left of him. The guns are pointed at the doctor, arms on his head and briefcase, lying abandoned on the cement. Reese and i draw our pistols. "Drop the guns. Now." I order. Nicole's head flashes towards me in fear and quick as a flash she dropa the gun and lunges towards Reese, striking a hand-to-hand combat. I walk, with gun pointing at Nicole's husband, towards him. He yells at me to stop, but i believe that as a bluff. But, 'twas it a bluff? It was not, i found as a bullet pierced my left shoulder. I want to groan and collapse but i fight the urge and use my guand shoot Nicole's husband's kneecaps. He is on the ground, curled up , cradling his kneecaps. "Doc. Get in your car. You saw nothing." I say to him. He jumps in his car and drives out of the parking lot as if a giant were chasing him. After the doctor is gone, I remind Reese, saying "we have five minutes." I walk over to where Nicole is by her husband. "You have two choices, Nicole. Number one, we leave you here and let the police find you, but if you do that you must hold up if they interrogate you about it. Number two, we take just you with us and let the police find your husband." I give her the options. After about thirty seconds and "talking" it over with her husband, she chooses number 2. "We gotta go, now." Reese urgently says. I grab Nicole's gun and walk to the car. A second later, Nicole follows. We are on the road driving away from the scene in thirty seconds.
The whole ride back to the apartments, i am gritting my teeth and putting pressure on my shoulder. Reese looked over at me, seeing me trying to cope with the pain, i can see the concern on his face. When we get back to apartments, Nicole follows me to my apartment. A few seconds later, Shaw comes in followed by Finch. Shaw and Nicole start getting all doctor-y. I start to hallucinate and then fall unconscious. But before i black-out, i hear a "oh no" from Shaw.
Nicole's POV
Shaw discovers the bullet and we both gasp because i forgot that my husband wanted to use the poisoned ones. I feel like an idiot, knowing that my good friend is dying because i stupidly wanted to get revenge on the doctor that bought me out. I start crying. "Stay strong, Nicole! I need you to tell me what kind of bullets these are!" Shaw tells me. I tell her the type.Shaw's POV
I discovered that the bullets were of a poisoned type. I pulled out the bullet and started to do some tests on it. Calling Reese over, I tell him the type of antidote that I need. "Only the police have that kind." He replies. "Well it is a good thing that you have a friend that is a police detective." I reply.
I send him on his way to get the antidote. "Shaw, her pulse is weakening." Nicole tells me. "She is losing a lot of blood. What type are you?" I ask her. "B negative." She replies. "I can't do it with that type. Finch how about you?" I ask him. "Well, I think I am a AB negative." Finch replies.
"Grr! I need someone with O negative!" I proclaim frusterated. Finch walks out of the room for a moment. A second later, he comes back quite quickly. "The Machine says that Reese is O negative." He exclaims excitedly. "Well, he better get back quick or else a valuable member to our team is dead." I reply.
Finch's POV
I silently agree with Shaw that Jackie is a valuable member to our team, especially since we were short a member when Root died.
Shaw says that Jackie is drifting further and further away and that she doesn't have much time at all. I, personally, am tired of watching members of our team and those who help our team die.
"She has about ten minutes." Shaw says. "May I follow her last wishes?" Nicole asks. "Go ahead." Shaw replies. Nicole goes over to call someone. About 5 minutes later, a car pulls in the apartment building driveway and a Catholic priest in a cassock approaches the door. Nicole answers the door and the priest hurries to Jackie's side to give her Last Rites.
Shaw's POV
The priest gives Jackie Last Rites. "Excuse me, Father, this may seem like a strange question but what blood type are you?" I ask. "I am A Positive, it is no strange question." He replies. "Well, thanks anyway, Father." I say.
He stays by Jackie's side and Finch starts up a light conversation. Finch asks if the priest knows Jackie personally. He replies that he is Jackie's brother.
Startling us all, Reese bursts through the door and hands me the antidote. "Sit down." I order. He sits and i start to do a blood transfusion between them. When Reese's blood starts to supply the blood Jackie lost, i prep the antidote and inject her with it.Shaw's POV
Reese inquires about the priest and he introduces himself. "Hi, I am Father Michael Myers." Reese shakes his hand and replies, "I am John Reese. What parish do you belong to, Father?" Father Michael tells him.
After i know that Jackie has had enough blood, i pull out the needles for the transfusion. "Now, we wait." I say. Nicole sits by Jackie while Reese, Finch, Father Michael and i get some dinner. When Father is done eating, he switches spots with Nicole. I leave to grab some supplies at the nearest convience store.
Father Michael's POV
I sit by my sister for awhile and then i take up Finch's offer to sleep on the couch. Before i leave her, i open her hand and put her Church Militant Rosary in it. I walk into the living room and say Night Prayer. When i am done, i hear Shaw come back into the apartment and then walk through the conference room into her own apartment. Jackie's POV
I wake up in a dark room, lying on a very hard flat surface. I try to sit up but there is a searing pain in my left shoulder.
I use my right arm to push myself up. In the dark, i can't really tell where I am. My mind flashes back to my covert-op days. My body immediately switches to tactical mode.
Still unsure of where i am, i look above me and see the room has a very interesting ceiling. There are multiple board a foot apart each, the boards themselves are about 6 inches wide. These boards are across the whole ceiling and there is a 24 inch space between them and the drywall ceiling. Knowing this is an advantage, i use my right arm and pull myself inbetween the slats and lie down on my chest on them.
I drift asleep. About 6 hours later, i wake up to voices. Familiar voices. I look down upon 3 people. One is a black haired girl. Another is a blackish grayish haired man and the other is a brown haired man. "Where could she have gone? Her shoulder was severely injured!" The brown haired one said. "I don't know. Where ever she is, she is probably in a lot of pain." The black haired girl says. She is quite right, i am in a lot of pain.I drift into unconsciousness. When I wake back up, the people are gone. I listen for awhile for any voices. I then hear some. "Maybe she woke up, had a flashback to her Military days, and now she thinks she is in some enemy base." I hear a woman's voice say.
"It is likely. But she never really showed signs of PTSD." Another woman's voice said. "It happens to almost everyone who has been in the Military, I believe." A man's voice says. The voices fade and i deem it safe to get down.
I climb down and grab my shoes that are strangely sitting by the door. I put them on my feet and go outside.
I see a familiar car, only i don't know why it is familiar. I walk towards it, when all the sudden i hear a voice say, "There she is!" I turn to the voice and then start running the opposite way. The tail of the jacket I am wearing is grabbed by one of those who started to run after me.I am unable to slip free from the jacket and i am stopped. I turn and all the faces are so familiar. "Jackie! Where did you go?" The girl with red hair asks. "She might not recognize us because of the PTSD." A man with glasses and brown hair says. A priest in a cassock approaches and I recognize him immediately. "Michael!" I say as he stops walking when he joins the group. "Jackie! Where have you been?" He asks.
My mind switches back out of my old Miltary days tactical mode and i immediately recognize all those around me. We all sort out what happened. Then, we go inside and Shaw takes a look at my shoulder.
From the look on her face, I know something is wrong especially with the pain i am in. She wraps it back up and leaves the room.
Shaw's POV
When i check Jackie's shoulder, It looks terrible and is infected. I need to get a prescription but i am a marked man, er, woman. So, I really cant prescribe or pick up at a pharmacy.
To solve the problem, it is a good thing Nicole is practicing. I get her to write a prescription and then told her to go and fill it. Nicole leaves and i walk into the living room, where Finch, Reese, Jackie and Father Michael are sitting, talking. Jackie's POV
I enjoy talking with my brother and i can tell Reese does too. During the conversations that pass between the 3 of us, with Finch listening, my shoulder feels like it is on fire.
Shaw comes in and joins the conversations. About an hour later, Nicole comes back with a pill for me.
I take the pill and Father Michael gets up and says he has to go. I hug him goodbye and Reese walks with him to his car.
I decide to go lie down and try to sleep, despite the pain. A WEEK LATER
My infection is gone and the pain in my shoulder has subsided. After eating my lunch, which consisted of a chicken wrap and baked potato chips, I walk through the door leading to the conference room
We discuss our plan for the removal of Samaritan, for good. We all have a role to play. Some roles more dangerous than the other.
We set the plan into action about a week later, after reviewing the plan and preparing ourselves. And, by preparing ourselves, I mean, preparing ourselves for death or torture or both.Shaw prepares herself by cleaning all her guns and by writing letters to each member of the team. Finch, even though he is not doing field work where he could get killed, feels that IF we fail in our mission that Samaritan agents would track him down and kill him.
So, Finch prepares himself by prepping the Machine and showing Nicole how to use it qnd also by thanking us for helping him with his project. He also, in case we fail but live and he dies, leaves a good sum of money for each of us.
Nicole has no need to prepare herself because she decided she was going to sit this mission out. But, in the case that Finch dies, she would take his role.
I prepare myself by praying, going to Mass and going to Confession. I visit my brother and give him some letters I wrote in case i don't live through the mission. One letter for Mom, One for Dad, One for my little sister and one for my older brother.
Reese, to prepare himself, does about the same stuff I do, Going to Mass, Confession and Pray.THE EVENING BEORE THE BIG MISSION
After we finished the nice dinner that Finch had bought, he stands up for a speech. "I just want to thank all of you for the service you have done for me. By this service, you have also served your country or continued to serve your country. If we don't make it through, I just want to say that all of you have been like family to me. Thank you." And with those last two sentences, Finch's voice started to break qnd few tears fell down his face.I went over the mission once more and then we all dismissed ourselves for bed.
MISSION day
I woke up early, as did everyone else. I put all my tactical gear on then went into the Kitchen to eat breakfast.
Reese comes in to join me for breakfast. As he grabs a plate of sausage, eggs, and a single pancake, i tell him, "Savor it. It's the only meal we're getting." He replies, "The last meal." We both kinda force a chuckle.
After I finish my breakfast, i go into the meeting room. I look at the set on plans laid out, once more.
"You and Reese can do it. I believe in the two of you." Finch says, approaching.
"Thanks, Finch." I replied. Reese comes in to say he's ready and we leave, without saying goodbye to anyone. We had tracked down where the Samaritan HQ was with the Machine. Reese starts to drive there.
We arive about half hour later. I hand Reese his pack.
"Let's do this." I say. He nods and we tactically jog over to the tall barbed wire fence.
I throw a thick blanket over the barbed wire and start to climb.Once i am over the fence, Reese hops over too.
We start to carefully walk over to the building, avoiding the guards as we go.
Now, the whole building is huge. Huge, not as in skyscowser but huge as in going deep underground.
So to get to the bottom we have to go down multiple flights ofstairs and guards.
Reese and i start to climb down the first flight down. There are no guards.
We go down the second, still no guards.
"Reese, hold up." I say. He stops. "I think something is up." I say. "I think so too." He replies.
We continue with extra caution and descend down to floor 4 with ease. This is a 30 floor building and Reese and I are slightly creeped as by the time we hit floor ten there is no one.
No one at all. No lights except in the stairwell.
"Reese, I don't think we should keep going. " i say.
"Jackie, we have to. We must do this. I know the plan feels terrible but we must."
"John, the plan does feel terrible!"
"Jackie, either the whole world becomes corrupted by something much worse than Hitler or 500 Samaritan soldiers die.""My conscience tells me not to do this, John!" I say
"Jackie, i don't care if you don't continue. But i am!" He replies and starts to continue down the stairs.
My conscience also tells me not to leave my fellow soldier, so i deny the first message and continue after him.
I catch up to him. "So your coming?" He says. "Leave no one." I reply.
We continue down the stairs and are shocked at what we see on floor 15.
We saw a quite humorous sight. At least, it was humorous for a few minutes.
A giant table was set on floor 15 and tons of Samaritan agents were sitting there playing poker.
We watched for a few moments. Then we continued down the stairs and saw the same sights on levels 20 and 25. We finally reached the 30 floor and set out to find the machine called Samaritan. We could use this machine against its own people. On the 30th floor There were a lot of Samaritan guards. "Hello, everyone." I said.
They turned towards me and John attacked from behind while I attacked from the front. Once they were down, we started to search.
I came across a room with a sign that said electical. I motioned to John that this might be it and we went inside the room.
Part 48
There were tons of computers in the room and in the back of the room was another electrical room.
We walked over to that and went inside. There were boxes in the wall holding multiple cords and things of that sort.
"John, this isn't the right room. There are no cords like the ones in the plan." I say. He comes over to wearing i am crouching and looks.
"Let's check the next floor." He says. "Okay. I will start the fire." I say. He leaves and starts to go upstairs. I start a fire, We were told to start one if we reached the last floor and the right wires weren't there.Once the fire is started, I head upstairs to level 28. I walk over to a room labeled: No Entry Except Authorized. I enter and see a closet labeled Electrical.
John is in there. I walk over to where he is and see he is changing the wires the way we were told.
I grab the tools for the finishing touches. "You ready?" I say to John. He nods and i snip the right wires.
We have fifteen minutes. I grab the backpack that contained some of the supplies. We run toward the stairwell. We run up the stairs quickly and reach the top with 3 minutes to spair.
I go to open the door to the outside. I push and push. "John, it is not opening!" I say. He and I push it hard and try everything we can think of. We give up with one minute to spare.
"Jackie, before we are blown into nothing with the Samaritan agents, i just want to tell you, I love you." He says.
I turn to him. I am really shocked because I had no idea that he felt the same way that i felt about him. I am silent for a few seconds and then, I sit down next to him. "I love you too, John." He smiles and grabs my hand. And, that was the last I knew, as the building blew up. High into the sky.
